Is War Really Necessary?

Based on a historical analysis on war from B.C. times until the present, war plays a very important role in how our culture is shaped, how societies form, and ultimately how they come to a demise. War can create empires such as the great Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire that were two of the longest lasting empires, or they can create new territories of countries such as Germany's first, second, and third Reichs during the Holy Roman Empire period, World War I, and World War II. Although there are periods of peace between most wars, during today's time there has been fewer wars than ever throughout history. The only other period of peace this long in history was Pax Romana which lasted from 27 B.C. until 14 A.D. and shaped how the empire would be viewed during modern times because of this period of peace.
Focusing on ancient wars during the Middle Age period and below, wars were mainly fought for the conquest of land and money due to land ultimately being scarce in Europe, plus how economies were issued between countries such as Britain and Scotland fighting over the entire island due to the two major issues mentioned above: Money and power. Let's say that Germany in the 1400's had more power than England or France. If England or France created an alliance, then ultimately with the creation of an allied nation-state, Germany could fall and France/England could receive the spoils of war. However, while defeating Germany, both France and England would create a problem not only with the new Germany that it would create, but with Germany's alliances as well, which would create a recession throughout the entire continent.
With the advancement of technology would come a greater issue of war. First being cannons (mortars, howitzers, ground shot, etc.) issued an advancement on power on a scale of how a modern day shotgun is, but without pellets. Then the evolution of rifles (submachine guns, single shot, flint shot, etc.) brought an understanding to war in order to show that more people could be killed without the use of single shot weapons such as a cannon, or musket. Later, mustard gas came into affect during World War I and was so powerful that it was banned throughout future wars. Then ultimately the creation of bombs whether it be grenades, land mines, or even nuclear bombs shown the human race how great of a destruction they could actually cause after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
But, is war necessary to us during today's time? Most would argue that it isn't and that an issue of world peace is closer than ever in today's time, but all in all, war is inevitable. Most people today in the United States don't even consider that we today have been at war for the entire 21st century with the middle east and other terrorist states. Although these "wars" aren't even considered wars due to the length of time spent fighting them, people in the states don't even recognize that wars are going on at the moment due to the inevitability of their own self interest. As an individual that sees how most people rarely consider support for our troops while they've been in the middle east for so many years, I leave my condolences to those who don't recognize the events that are happening in today's time, such as our relations with the middle east at this very moment. In conclusion, war is entirely necessary in order to contain the corruptness between opposing countries/civilizations. Without war, chaos would seep into the civilization that we know of today and destroy the first world countries that we see as the top powers of the world. It should be up to the soldiers of each country to make sure that something as bazaar as that would never happen due to the corruptness that already reeks in governments today.
