Lesser Known American Wars (Part I)

Utah War Dragoons facing rebellion from Utah civilians; Mormons fighting for their religious freedom; Both sides equally prepared for war. This all started because of the Manifest Destiny that plagued the United States territory and ultimately led to smaller size conflicts (or "wars") to be called by different people as Utah War, Utah Expedition, Utah Campaign, Buchanan's Blunder, or even to the Mormons as the Mormon War. Imagine settlers that had already lived in the area (remember the ones that lived in California and moved somewhat East) and with the Mormons having the majority of control in this region saw that cavalry men were heading this way in what seemed more so like an army than an expedition and in return to their entrance were geared for war rather than a peaceful visit and stronger colonization of the region. The Mormons proceeded to try and stop them along their path in any kind of way before they reached Salt Lake City, but with the Mormons aching upon the soldiers brought upon more of a sense to them that they were ready for a war. They blocked most of their supplies from entering into their main cavalry and thus weakening the U.S. Army and slowed them down significantly. On September 11th, between 90-120 colonizers from around the U.S. heading to California were all killed by the Mormon Militia, thus adding fuel to the fire of the Utah War and claimed that they had no part in the massacre and that Indians were to blame for their deaths. The following month, Mormons arrested six Californians for being "spies" from the U.S. Army. Moving to the Eastern Oregon territory that was also associated with the Utah War, Native Americans ended up killing 2 Mormons and wounding many others in a fight because of the Mormon's relations to Utah. Eventually after the deaths of an estimated 150 people, both civilians and non-civilians, the U.S. ended up pardoning the Mormons completely (besides the murderous ones) and this resulted in a peaceful entry into the Utah territory and beyond to connect California to this territory in so helping the entirety of Manifest Destiny.
